ABOUT
Spanish flutist Marta Gómez Alonso is the Sub-Principal Flute in the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. She combines her orchestral activity with various projects which include teaching, contemporary music and chamber music.
She has been part of Joven Orquesta Nacional de España, Pacific Music Festival, Nederlandse Jugend Orkest, Orchestra Română de Tineret, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival and Lucerne Festival Academy. She is a member of the Verbier Festival Orchestra since 2020.
Marta has collaborated with numerous orchestras: Camerata Royal Concertgebouw Orkest - recording the CD “Salon (presque sans violon)-, Swedish Chamber Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León, Norrköpings Symfoniorkester, ADDA Simfònica, Orquesta de Extremadura, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orkest, Oviedo Filarmonía or Real Filharmonía de Galicia. Her orchestral activity has led her to perform under the baton of renowned conductors such as Gianandrea Noseda, Klaus Mäkelä, Christoph Eschenbach, Michael Sanderling, Vladimir Juroswki, Manfred Honeck or Ton Koopman in some of the greatest halls in Europe and Asia, including Berliner Philharmonie, KKL Luzern, Konzerthaus Berlin, Philharmonie Paris, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg or Suntory Hall in Tokyo.
As soloist, she has performed J.S.Bach BWV 1064 Concerto, arranged and conducted by Ton Koopman, with the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival Orchestra in 2019, and J.Ibert Concerto with Codarts Symphony Orchestra in 2017.
Marta has been awarded with several national and international prizes, such as the Special Prize in “À travers la flûte” Competition, in august 2020, and two Special Prizes in the “Euroflute Solo Competition”, in may 2020. She was also finalist in the 87º edition of “Juventudes Musicales” Competition, organized in Madrid in 2017.
Her interest in contemporary music has been growing throughout her education, what brought her to write her Artistic Research on Toru Takemitsu’s music for flute. This research allowed her to collaborated with the magazine “FLUITS” (Nederlandse Fluitgenootschap). She has performed with different contemporary music ensembles, including De Doelen Ensemble, AKOM Ensemble or Neopercusión. She also participated in the production “AUS LICHT”, Stockhausen’s opera, organized by the Holland Festival in Amsterdam in 2017, where she played the main role in the piece KATHINKAs GESANG for flute solo and percussion, performance which was highly acclaimed by the critics. In 2021 she was one of the performers of the first production of "AUS LICHT" ever made in Spain in collaboration with Neopercusión.
Marta studied her Bachelor with André Cebrián, Antonio Nuez and Fernando Gómez in CSMA (Zaragoza). She completed her Masters in Codarts, Rotterdam, in the class of Juliette Hurel, Julie Moulin and Wim Steinmann. She also took the Advanced Course in Orchestral Playing with Real Filharmonía de Galicia and Laurent Blaiteau.
From 2020 until 2023 she was the Orchestral Repertoire and Instrumental Ensemble teacher in Conservatorio Superior de Castilla-La Mancha, Albacete.
